Progress is slow..

As you can tell by the title, progress has been slow. I sent a good deal of money through to secure rent on a house and that fell through, so I have been waiting for 2 weeks for the guy to send my money back.

I spoke to Darryl about the need for a cheque. Apparently you can buy those things.. huh, who knew? So as soon as my money is through I am off to buy a cheque book... and to ask how to fill them out etc to send to America. So payment shouldnt be too much of an issue (fingers crossed).

I managed to find two references for my SSDCA membership application :) the references have to be members in good standing. So my form is fully filled out. So note of things to do:
  • Wait for money to come through.
  • Go to bank, buy cheques +ask for info on filling out + sending to USA
  • Go to post office and send SSDCA application + cheque off
  • Send puppy application + deposit off
I had a dream last night about my future shiloh. I went to the breeder on this huge farm and booked. I was so excited. Then I was back home and went and collected the most adorable little ball of fluff from the airport, and then another one was delivered to my house, and another and another and another.... I was in heaven :P Anyways there were balls of fluff EVERYWHERE.

I wish I could have my puppy now :(

Getting Started

So today was pretty uneventful to be honest. I managed to print off the SSDCA (Shiloh Shepherd Dog Club of America) membership application forms and fill them out. Now all I have to do is find SOME way to pay for the application. It's not the cost thats the issue, just how does one get money to the USA? Apparently electronic transfer is crazy expensive, while trying to link my bank account to paypal I managed to block it, and I dont have cheques... The answer? Ask Darryl. He is the genius boyfriend who magically makes things happen when I have failed. Its nice to sometimes have geek boy watching your back :P Who Knows what I would do without him? (what a bizarre thought)

I also managed to print out the puppy application forms from the breeder I plan on getting my puppy from. Zwanet Boer from Dutchpride Shilohs. I hope to get a puppy from the 2011 Zanthe litter! So I have to fill those forms out and then find out how I am going to find a cheque and then I will have to make a trip to the Post Office.... *sigh* What a schlep!! But in the end it'll be completely worth it!

Until next time....

The Beginning

A couple of years ago, while adeptly procrastinating, I stumbled upon the ultimate dog breed. This fantabulous (yes, its so cool it has its own new word) breed is called the Shiloh Shepherd. Unfortunately I then had to get back to work, putting the Shiloh to the back of my mind.
Years later I AGAIN stumbled across this magnificent creature. I read until I discovered the difference between the ISSR shilohs and "the others" (sounds ominous doesn't it). I read myself into a stupor and then found the ISSR Shiloh Shepherd Forums; and I have never looked back!

This Blog is basically going to be about my journey to aquiring my own little shiloh furbaby. You see, I live in South Africa, and the shiloh is an American Breed in Development which has only really reached Europe recently. Africa seems like a giant leap away. So I invite everyone to join me through the trials and tribulations of my journey, raising the money to import the first ISSR Shiloh Shepherd to South Africa!
